Cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant before serving. Founded by Marchese Lodovico Antinori in 1981, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia is today one of Italy’s most famous wineries. Antinori is the brother of Piero Antonori, founder of Tenuta Tignanello, and the cousin of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta who founded Tenuta San Guido which produces the world-famous Sassicaia.

Attractive aromas of blue fruit with slate and black-licorice character. It’s full-bodied with juicy fruit and an orange-peel undertone. Wet earth, some fresh sage and rosemary, too. I like the Mediterranean flavors in this vintage. Drink or hold. JS 95 pts

This balanced red is laced with black cherry, blackberry, violet and spice flavors. Concentrated and juicy, leaving a lining of dusty tannins on the long finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Drink now through 2028. 12,500 cases imported. WS 90 pts
