Sinegal Napa Cabernet 2019

Sinegal Estate is a family-owned Saint Helena-based historic 30-acre property, originally known as the Inglewood Estate. Alton Williams acquired it in 1879 and planted the first vines here in 1881. Over the generations, the estate has passed through four separate families with the family being the fifth family, purchasing the property in 2013. The skeleton key on every label of Sinegal wines represents the importance of legacy and preserving the heritage of these families, as it is representative of the original key that was passed down to us when they acquired the estate.

The second release of our limited production Select Series Cabernet Sauvignon leads with aromas of raspberry and black currant, followed by notes of sweet, toasted oak and violet petals. The palate is lush and elegant with refined tannins, especially for such a young wine. Flavors of ripe blackberry and black cherry mix with notes of cedar box and wet stone. True to form, this wine has lovely depth and texture that are framed by polished tannins and bright acidity, giving it freshness and structure. The 2019s are showing beautifully in their youth but will no doubt be one of the more age-worthy vintages we’ve seen in a while.

This 2019 is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Merlot. The wine was fermented in 90% stainless steel and 10% oak tanks and aged for 20 months in 85% new oak barrels.
