The foundation of Zinfandel fruit for this wine hails from coastal Paso Robles (29% of the blend), where a handful of especially warm days during the 2017 vintage imbued this batch with an ultra-rich, Amerone-like quality. Old-vine fruit from heritage Mendocino County Zinfandel vineyards (25%) adds further nuance and red fruit notes to the blend, while selected vineyards from Lodi and the Sierra Foothills contribute richness, weight and an energizing mineral quality. Notes of Moroccan spices feature alongside soulful dark fruit notes on the palate, which is framed by satisfying suggestions of smoke and leather.
